National Non-Profit Group Assists Owners and Pets with Pet Food Stamp Program

There are over 50 million Americans who currently receive Food Stamps. Many of the recipients with dogs or cats cannot afford to feed their animals. As a result, their cherished companions are dropped off at animal shelters where they will most likely be put to sleep.

As more families struggle with difficult choices such as paying the rent or buying food; some have to make the difficult choice between keeping their pet and putting food on the table for themselves.

A recent New York Times article states that, “animal shelters have reported a steep rise in the number of cats and dogs being surrendered as owners face unemployment, home foreclosures, evictions and other financial hardships.”

The Pet Food Stamps program with the assistance of generous contributors and patrons are able to eliminate that heart-wrenching decision by making sure these pet owners are given free monthly home delivery of all necessary food supplies to maintain the health and vitality of their pets.

Broadway Production of Breakfast at Tiffany’s Accepting Submissions for Cat

The world premiere of Tony Award winning playwright Richard Greenberg’s new play, Breakfast at Tiffany’s will hold a casting call to find the perfect cat to take on the iconic role of “Cat.” Felines with dreams are encouraged to submit a photo and owner contact information to kittygolightly@oandmco.com. A casting session will be held during the week of February 11, 2013 to groom the candidates for stardom.

The play begins performances at the Cort Theatre on Monday, March 4, 2013 and will officially open on Wednesday, March 20, 2013.

This stage adaption of Truman Capote’s classic novella is based on his most beloved masterwork, Breakfast at Tiffany’s which is set in New York City in 1943.  The 1961 film version included Audrey Hepburn and George Peppard. The song Moon River was also written for Audrey.

‘Fred’, a young writer from Louisiana, meets ‘Holly Golightly’ (Clarke), a charming, vivacious and utterly elusive good-time girl. Everyone falls in love with Holly – including Fred (Smith). But Fred is poor, and Holly’s other suitors include a playboy millionaire and the future president of Brazil. As war rages on in Europe, Holly begins to fall in love with Fred – just as her past catches up with her.  According to imdb, about nine cats were used throughout the film as the role of Cat. Audrey also said that the scene where she throws Cat into the rainy street was the most distasteful thing she ever had to do on film.

Tickets are available for purchase in person at the Cort Theatre box office beginning Monday, February 11, 2013 (Monday – Saturday, 12 p.m. – 8 p.m.), online at www.telecharge.com, or by calling Telecharge at 800-432-7250 or 212-239-6200
