It’s that time of year when we like to bring holiday foliage into the house. Cat owners need to be aware of which plants can cause harm to their cats.
Poinsettia leaves contain a sap that will irritate. Most animals stop long before they begin vomiting.
Mistletoe is very dangerous, more than the Holly Berry plant which can cause intestinal upset. When ingested, Mistletoe can cause seizures and even death.
The oils produced by fir trees can be irritating to your cat’s mouth and stomach, causing excessive vomiting or drooling. Beware of the pine needles which can also cause gastrointestinal irritation or worse can obstruct digestion or even puncture an organ.
Also, you will want to watch electric cords and lights and make sure your kitty is supervised.
Keep your kitty safe from harm this holiday season and beware of harmful plants and situations and have a Meow-y Christmas and Happy Mew Year!
