Tara the Hero Cat Received “Hero Dog” Prize from ASPCA

We were so pleased to learn that last year’s recipient of the CFA Hero Cat Award, Tara the Hero Cat, received an award last week which has been traditionally given to dogs. Tara received the CFA Hero Cat Award last June. This June she was recognized by the LA ASPCA for her efforts. The first time a cat receives the honor normally reserved for dogs!

In May of last year, Tara’s owner, a young Jeremy Triantafilo, was playing on a bike in his home driveway when a neighbor’s dog attacked, biting and dragging the boy by his leg. Before his mother could get to him, Tara, raced to his aid and threw herself at the dog, sending the dog running in the opposite direction. Jeremy only showed minor injuries as a result.

The ASPCALA was very impressed by Tara’s loyalty and bravery, saying that, “A cat who was abused, forgotten, or neglected by her family would not have been as likely to perform selfless, heroic acts to save her companion.”

Congratulations to Tara on this award! She truly is a hero.
